Kourakuen has its own private hot spring source, “Kourakuen Onsen,” located within the property. Approximately 80 tons of hot spring water is drawn daily from 500 meters underground and supplied to the baths. According to the 2023 hot spring analysis, the water is classified as a Simple Hot Spring with a pH of 8.4, making it weakly alkaline. As the source temperature is approximately 25.4°C (77.7°F), the water is heated and circulated to maintain a comfortable bathing temperature. No tap water is added to the hot spring water. On rare occasions when the supply of hot spring water is insufficient, natural groundwater from within the property may be temporarily added. In accordance with local public health regulations, the bathwater is disinfected with chlorine at an appropriate concentration using an automated system.

Rustic Public Bath “Iwa-no-Yu” + Authentic Finnish Sauna

The indoor bath features a high-ceilinged design inspired by a traditional Japanese storehouse, while the open-air bath, surrounded by natural stone, offers a spacious and relaxing atmosphere. The newly built sauna features a distinctive Otaru-inspired design, providing a comfortable space to unwind. Facilities include a cold bath with free-flowing groundwater, self-service löyly, reclining sauna seats, and a selection of beverages.

Nature-Surrounded Public Bath “Morino-Yu-Ya” + Authentic Finnish Sauna

As its name suggests, “Morino-Yu-Ya”, meaning “bathhouse in the forest”, features both indoor and open-air baths surrounded by lush greenery. The indoor bath, with walls lined with hinoki cypress, offers beautiful views of the garden through a large oval window. In the evening, the illuminated garden creates a magical atmosphere completely different from the daytime. An authentic Finnish sauna has also been newly added.

Relax in complete privacy with your family or partner in this spacious 80 m² private onsen. The changing area also features a sofa and TV, creating a comfortable living space where you can unwind before or after your bath. Feel the refreshing breeze from the garden, and in the evening, enjoy the beautifully illuminated garden and its magical atmosphere, completely different from the daytime.

Though compact, the sauna offers a cozy, private space where couples and friends can relax and enjoy time together.
